LDV T60 Review

The Australian light commercial vehicle segment in Australia has been burgeoning in the last 10 years. Customers are spoilt for choice in the commercial vehicle market now more than ever. The traditional Aussie ute is has also become more than just a work hack. It now also serves as a family car, a recreational vehicle or simply a vehicle that’s a show pony for its owners. Enter the LDV T60 Ute.

One thing that has also occurred is as features and quality have increased, so have the prices. Some new utes can be bought for as much as $80k plus! While the features may be high it begs the question where do we draw the line?

LDV has long been a supplier of vans in Australia and around the world (under the Maxus banner). In 2017 this changed in Australia when LDV Australia began supplying the new LDV T60 Ute.

This was the game changer the Australian ute market needed. The LDV T60 Ute offers class leading features for a great value price.

So what does it actually offer?

Under the bonnet- T60 Engine

The LDV T60 is powered by a 2.8l Turbo Diesel engine with outputs of 110kw and 360Nm. What is quite remarkable here is the flat range of torque giving the impression of  greater output than what’s on paper. The proof is in the 3000kg towing capacity giving plenty of torque and power to haul your workload or tow that boat on your weekend away.

One thing of note too is that most other utes on the market have smaller capacity engines. They have higher outputs which is an stress on these engines especially when hauling a big load. LDV provides an engine that is quite relaxed and stress free under load, certainly reducing internal damage under high load situations.

T60 Interior

One look at the interior of the T60 will have you in awe. The big class leading 10inch touch screen dominates the centre console providing features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity. There are a couple of 12 volt power outlets as well as USB Ports. The dual cab range also features 6 speakers that have great sound quality.

Every button is within arms reach and the comfortable seats make for a smooth ride coupled with the supple suspension, not a common feature amongst competitors.

Heated mirrors also feature another perk not found elsewhere in this segment.

When you sit behind the wheel of a T60 whether it be a T60 Pro or Luxe there is an upmarket feel as you will appreciate the standard features. The interior quality is up there with the best and car like look and feel certainly add to the appeal behind the wheel.

The rest of the T60…

The public’s common and justified misconception is the poor safety record in years gone by of Chinese made vehicles. Well move over competition this is LDV T60 has moved to the top with the best! There is a genuine Ancap 5 star safety rated utility that has a long list of passive and active safety features. Features such as ABS, EBA (Electronic Brake Assist), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Reverse Camera, 360° surround camera (on Luxe models) the list goes on and on. Some of these features you will not find on most of the competition.

The exterior is quite attractive and all models boast front LED daytime running lights, alloy wheels, prominent front grille and stylish lines along the side of all models.

All the usual perks also exist such as bluetooth, cruise control plus heated mirrors.

To top it off you have Australia’s best commercial vehicle warranty 5 years/ 130,000km!

Even after reading this T60 review it’s best to test drive at your local respected LDV dealer in Sydney and see how amazing this work ute truly is!

There are a couple of Sydney LDV dealers you can test drive this ute. Customers can come in to the dealership, and once a test drive is done. You see the value proposition, it will be an easy choice for you…
