Suzuki Baleno Series II Revealed

June 26, 2019

The Swift’s more practical sibling has been given a minor refresh, with minor design and equipment upgrades. Suzuki Australia has confirmed details of the updated 2020 Baleno light hatch ahead of its local sales launch in August.

As before, the refreshed Baleno will be available in two trim levels – GL and GLX – with minor styling and equipment revisions depending on grade.

Design changes include the new front grille, revised bumpers front and rear, along with new designs for the 15-inch wheel covers on the Suzuki GL and 16-inch alloys on the Suzuki GLX. Other changes include a revised door trim colour and an “all-new” seat fabric design. GLX versions also get UV-shielding windscreen glass, LED headlights (formerly HID), and automatic headlight levelling.

Engine and transmission specifications carry over, meaning the entire range continues to be powered solely by a 68kW/130Nm 1.4-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, mated to either a five-speed manual (GL only) or a four-speed automatic.

Pricing also stays the same for the updated range, starting at $15,990 plus on-roads for the GL manual, climbing to $18,990 +ORCs for the GLX.

Five exterior paint options will be available – Fire Red (pictured), Arctic White, Granite Grey Metallic, Stargaze Blue Metallic, and Premium Silver Metallic. The latter three premium options command a $500 premium. Sales will begin in August 2019 for the updated Suzuki Baleno GL, while Suzuki GLX versions will start to arrive from September.
