The All New Volkswagen Crafter Kampervan will be unveiled at Brighton Volkswagen for the first time in Victoria between the 24th and 27th June!
The biggest and most lifestyle-friendly version of the VW campervans! Utilising the framework of our Crafter Van, Volkswagen has partnered with the best Australian Caravan specialists, Jayco, to bring you the Crafter Kampervan! Locally designed, engineered and manufactured in Jayco’s state-of-the-art Australian facilities, in Dandenong South, Victoria.
The Crafter Kampervan sits above the already-available Caddy California and California van and is offered with a complete five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
The Rundown
The Kampervan is the largest vehicle in Volkswagen Australia’s fleet – measuring 6800mm long and 2000mm wide – and is available in three different camper grades– Kampervan, Kampervan Style and range topping Kampervan All-Terrain. All models come equipped identically in terms of what Jayco builds into the van.
What differentiates the models beyond that is based on the spec of the VW Crafter it is based on. However, all examples of the Kampervan run a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine producing 130kW and 410Nm, with an eight-speed automatic transmission and VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard. It has a stated gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 4000kg, so it is drivable on a standard car licence.
The Model line up
The Kampervan base model comes with heavy duty suspension, shocks and stabilisers, a mechanical differential lock, hill descent control, black steel wheels, four-way swivel front seats, sliding kerbside door, 270-degree rear barn doors, a reversing camera, rubber floor mats and a leather steering wheel.
Step up to the Style grade, and you get a heated steering wheel, LED headlights and daytime running lights with headlight washers, a heated windshield, fog lights with cornering function, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and the media system is upgraded to include in-built satellite navigation. This grade also has the option of two-tone paint (single tone for the base model), and alloy wheels are available, too.
The flagship Kampervan All-Terrain adds (over the Style): a 30mm lift kit, engine underbody protection, AdBlue tank protection, a rear diff protector plate, rear shock protection, different steel wheels and off-road tyres.
