All-New Tracer 9 GT Revealed

June 11, 2021

The all-new Yamaha Tracer 9 GT continues to encapsulate the sport, touring philosophy and now features the most sophisticated technologies ever seen on Yamaha’s Sport Touring motorcycles.

Originally launched five years ago, the multi-role tourer quickly became a leading model for the brand. Offering thrilling performance combined with enhanced touring capabilities, the new Tracer GT is lighter, more powerful and supremely versatile.

A completely redesigned 889cc crossplane technology engine powers the new Tracer 9 GT, allowing for an increase of power and decrease in weight. The sophisticated new inline 3-cylinder engine boosts a 7% torque output now producing 93Nm at 7000rpm. (1500rpm lower than previous models).

Although the new Tracer features a larger engine, increasing in capacity, it actually weighs 1700g less than the previous model. This further contributes towards the bike’s enhanced agility and versatility.

Developed with KYB, the electronically-controlled semi-active suspension system provides riders ultimate comfort on the road. The highly advanced suspension, officially known as the KYB Automatic Damper System (KADS) allows for a much more diverse range of damping forces. Compared to conventional suspension, KADS is able to actively optimising handling performance for various riding conditions.

Yamaha’s 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) was originally developed for the legendary R1 back in 2015, yet now excitingly introduced for the new Tracer 9 GT. The 6-axis IMU is a highly advanced electrolytic unit that measures the Tracer 9 GT’s acceleration in the forward-backward; up-down and left-right directions – as well as the angular velocity in the machine’s pitch, roll and yaw directions.
