The New 2021 Trident 660

January 20, 2021

Tapping into the saturated middle-weight naked sports bike market, Triumph’s new Trident 660 aims to knock out all other competitors such as the Suzuki SV650, Yamaha MT-07 / XSR 700 and Kawasaki Z650.

In a division that is dominated with twin-cylinders, the Trident offers customers Triumph’s unique triple-cylinder-powered engine. With an aggressively affordable price tag, the Trident contains an impressive number of premium features, such as ABS, switchable traction control and selectable ride modes.

Powered by a LAMS-Approved liquid-cooled, DOHC, 660cc inline-triple cylinder engine, the Trident claims to put out 53HP at 8, 750 rpm and 47Nm of torque at 5000 rpm.

What’s most exciting, is that Triumph’s engineers have stated that the Tridents engine will be producing 90% of the peak torque at the impressively low 3,600 rpm, prioritising low-mid range power. Due to the engine being a triple-cylinder, it also offers noticeable top-end power, which is something V-twin engines can’t compete with.

Featuring class-leading technology, the multi-function TFT display allows riders to choose between riding modes, adjust traction control and ride-by-wire throttle. Coming standard with Michelin Road 5 tyres, they provide a confident grip during wet and dry conditions. A 6-speed gearbox is updated and a redesigned slip-assist clutch is present, which for a bike predominantly designed for the “newer” rider, it’s a very welcomed feature.

Stylistically, the Trident strikes a careful balance between its heritage and modern line-ups.

With flawless bodywork, complementing the riders seating position and core engine, the Trident offers a variety of colour variations:

  • Crystal White
  • Matt Jet Black & Matt Silver Ice
  • Sapphire Black
  • Silver Ice & Diablo Red

It is worth mentioning that a quick-shifter, USB charging socket and heated grips are available as extra accessories.
